Students and Teachers
Students
If you are a theatre studies, drama or English student in a school, college or university, you might be researching a play that you are studying in class. You might also be studying a play either for performance or for an examination. Playregistry.com will assist by providing detailed background information about the history of the play and the playwright, as well as the regular quality of information you would expect to find about the play itself and the characters.
Teachers

If you are a theatre studies, drama or English teacher working in a school, college or university, you might be looking for plays to study for a certain number of actors. If this is the case, head to the character page and see what the website has to offer when you search for any number of male and female characters. You can even cross reference your search to suit a particular genre.
You may also be interested in students researching the background information about plays they are studying. This could include original production dates and cast lists, other plays by the playwright and any other information relevant to their studies. Where possible, we have tried to list this sort of background information, in order to make your experience with us as full and interesting as possible.
Directors
School plays are a fantastic way for students to express themselves and make new friends, but you really want to make sure that the plays you mount are suitable for them and your audience.
Searching through the website, you will be able to search for plays by title and author, or by genre if you are catering for a specific style of theatre. You can also search the characters page to find plays that fill your quota of male and female actors, as well as being able to cross-reference that search with a list of genres. Once you have found the play you want, make sure the students auditioning know as much about the play as possible before auditioning and rehearsing. The entry on the website will tell them all they need to know about the synopsis, setting, period, background and, of course, the characters.
If we’ve not yet got round to updating a play that you're interested in, just let us know and we'll endeavour to make sure it is done in time to meet your needs.
